Yosemite valley from an unmarked footpath and promontory off of Pohono Trail
///
Hiked above Tunnel View for superb views of Yosemite valley yesterday afternoon. My Garmin had this promontory marked “Old Inspiration Point,” but the present-day maps had a much lower location with this name.
Regardless, the 2,240’ elevation gain up to 6,460’ was worth it to have this view of El Capitan, Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks, and Clouds Rest. Bridalveil Falls was in full effect, but it was obscured by shadows in these shots. Clear and cold, with ice on the trail sporadically during the four hour hike up and down (plus an hour admiring the landscape).
