March 6th will mark the one year anniversary of receiving news that a global pandemic had begun. Cases were multiplying rapidly in the Bay Area from a new and mysterious virus. Our whole office was dismissed and asked to work from our homes. We haven’t been back since.
What a difference a year makes. Our city has been upended. I know more about epidemiology and vaccine rollout strategy than I ever thought I would. Phrases like “social distancing,” “shelter-in-place,” and “mask up” have become commonplace. Indoor dining has been replaced with contactless food deliveries, and “you’re muted” has replaced “hello.”
I’m still home until vaccines are available for low-risk people like me, and I’m glad I have the luxury of waiting while those who need it most become immune first.
Looking forward to seeing people face to face by the end of 2021. Thankful for everyone who has pulled together during this difficult year.
See you on Webex.
