Unlike many other sea birds the double breasted cormorant does not have water-proof feathers. This is very inconvenient for a bird which makes its living by diving and swimming underwater looking for fish to capture in its long, lithe neck. I spotted these guys drying out their wings after a morning dip in Calero Reservoir.
