The ancient Pueblo people who lived here from 750 to 1200 CE built these cliff dwellings.
They are believed to have been around 3-4 feet tall. Some historians believe they built in the cliffs as much to keep out predators as to keep out enemies, since the larger predators which were here at the time may have been a threat on the ground.
