Took an architecture tour of San Francisco and learned plenty of context about the beautiful buildings and the eras of the city from which they sprang.
I usually shoot block and white, but I left a colorful shot of the rainbow steps at Grace Cathedral. The Episcopal Church had adorned their entrance in honor of LGBTQ+ Pride month, and signified with color that all are welcome in their doors. I was Episcopal for a couple years, and though I’ve deconverted now and am no longer religious I have a warm spot in my heart for all the love the Episcopal Church showed all people (at least while I was among their ranks).
The open and affirming decorations of Grace warmed my heart, especially in a day and age where the types of churches I spent my youth in were the most hateful toward those who don’t fit their cookie-cutter proscriptions for life. I was also struck by how Grace commands the top of Nob Hill — it made me think of all the Bible verses about how the light of love should be placed up high so all could benefit from the light.
Keep truckin’, San Francisco.
