Cheeto was one of the horses who carried us into Hoover Wilderness last weekend. He was a wild mustang, adopted and tamed when he was young under the Bureau of Land Management program which gave him his “BLM freezemark,” a brand which codes his age, location found, and registration number.
We had never spent much time around horses, and we were thankful for our cowboy guides on the four hour journey up into the Sierras. Thanks, Leavitt Pack Station, for providing the well-tempered horses and the pack mules to take us into the heart of the mountain trails!
