Throwback

Back in 2016 I accompanied my good friends of the band The Swamp Tigers to the Chicago area for the recording of their album “To Sing a Life.” It was a privilege to sit in on the sessions, and even provide some background claps on one of the tracks.

The weekend also marked my transition into unapologetic black and white photography. I took no color photos the entire trip. Shooting in black and white forced me to think in terms of composition, textures, and quality of light. Four years later these shots still hold up and capture a really great atmosphere of a fantastic group of folks doing creative work. I put the record on this morning to reminisce on this wonderful trip.

I leave it to @swamptiger81 (Andrew Staff) to remind me of the name of the beautiful vintage studio they recorded in.
